Bachelor of Science in Education with a major in Speech-Language Pathology

Master of Education in Speech-Language Pathology

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Chanel Aker, and I will be serving as the Speech-Language Pathologist at Belwood Elementary, and Ashworth Middle School. I am thrilled to be a member of the BES/AMS faculty! I have worked in the Calhoun City School System for the past two years, and I am excited to transition over to the Gordon County School System as I head into my third year of working as a Speech-Language Pathologist.

I received my college education at the University of West Georgia. I have a Bachelor of Science in Education degree with a major in Speech-Language Pathology and a Master of Education degree in Speech-Language Pathology. I am a member of the American Speech–Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech–Language Pathology. I also hold a Georgia teaching certificate. This is my third year as a school-based Speech-Language Pathologist. My education has prepared me to be deemed "highly qualified" as a Speech-Language Pathologist according to No Child Left Behind standards.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time during the year with questions or concerns. Email is generally the quickest way to contact me during the school day.

Thank you for allowing me to take this time to introduce myself. I am looking forward to a wonderful year!
