Welcome to Ms. Wooten’s Second Grade Class!

Hello! I want to welcome your child to Second Grade. My name is DeAnn Wooten. I am Highly Qualified to teach Early Childhood Education. I am beginning my fifteenth year at Belwood. I taught Pre-K Special Education for two years, First Grade for three years, and this will be my tenth year teaching Second Grade. I am very excited to begin a new school year with you and your child.

In July 2007, I received a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University. In 2002, I received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University. I am certified in both Early Childhood Education and Interrelated Special Education.

I am a descendent of Rome. I love any thing outdoors from jogging, mountain bike riding, playing sports, watching sports, and hiking.

Education has always been an important part of my life. I believe that the purpose of education is to guide children along a path of enlightment and to teach them that education is a life long process of learning new strategies. I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a caring and nurtured environment in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. As an educator, a guide, I want to establish an environment that is safe and allows the students to explore and build a curiosity that will direct his or her learning. The students are encouraged to learn by doing and interacting with one another. I will assist the students in discovering who they are, so they can express their own thoughts and opinions. This will help them to become problem solvers with problems that they will face at school and outside of school. My goal is to inspire and motivate my students to seek more by showing them that they can have fun in the process of learning.

I will continue to learn and become more acquainted with up to date research by attending workshops and conferences. I am a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa, which is a teacher sorority that helps with community projects.

I am looking forward to working with you and your child to make this a very successful year! I am extremely happy for you to allow me to take part in your child’s education.

If you have any questions throughout the year, feel free to contact me. Email: dwooten@gcbe.org, School phone: (706) 629-9547.

Thanks,

DeAnn Wooten
