Belwood Bucket Fillers in Action in the Community

Belwood Elementary Students have been busy filling buckets in their community.   The character program at Belwood teaches students to always be considerate of each other, their families and the community.  By doing this, they learn that we always want buckets to be full around us and therefore our own buckets will be full because of it.

The month of September was dedicated to giving to “Sarah’s Snacks”.   Sarah was a previous Belwood student who lost her battle with cancer when she was eleven years old.  Her parents now have a ministry to provide snacks and microwaveable meals to children and their families being treated for pediatric cancer and blood disorders.   For more information on donating to this ministry, please contact Sarah’s parents at

The month of October was dedicated to providing much needed food and toys to the Animal Rescue League of Northwest Ga.  After a school wide pet guinea pig named “Jelly Bean” died a few weeks ago, Belwood students decided to rally together to bring in donations in her memory.  The pet’s owner, Mr. Gilreath, was humbled by the generosity of our students.   The Animal Rescue League of Northwest Georgia is a United Way agency who is committed to rescuing unwanted, abandoned and special needs dogs.  After spaying and neutering them, they treat, vaccinate and place them in carefully screened and loving homes.  Please contact 678-848-1889 or go to for information on donating to this cause.

Belwood students didn’t stop there when they took on the annual Voluntary Action Center Food Drive.  They collected around 900 cans to fill the buckets of those in the community in need of food.  The VAC has a very low supply this time of year so if you are interested in donating, please contact 706-629-7283 or go to

Belwood students will continue to be “Bucket Fillers” in all areas of their Character Development!
